Meccanotecnica Develops New Gathering, Sewing Line

A state-of-the-art gatherer, connected to the quickest book sewing unit on the market, makes the new UNIPLEX line from Italian manufacturer Meccanotecnica S.p.A. ideally suited for production of diaries, children’s books, annual reports, art catalogues or yearbooks.

The Uniplex line is a combination of an MX4 or MX4/52 gathering machine and one Aster book sewing machine. The gatherer features from four to 32 loading stations, while the sewing machine can be asterTOP or asterPRO. For a large-size book, up to 520mm, the gatherer features special MX4/52 stations and is connected to an asterPRO/52 book sewing machine. In a compact configuration, the Uniplex line could be operated by just one person for the production of sewn books, comprised of up to 16 signatures. UNIPLEX works at a speed of 300rpm, making it an alternative to perfect binding. A hand feeding station and/or bypass delivery options are available.
