USPTO Patent Granted for Mobile Digital Embellishment Platform Transforming Label and Flexible Packaging Production

Press release submitted on behalf of Print Label Pack, LLC

Tom Gray, CEO of Print Label Pack, LLC, today announced the issuance of a new USPTO patent for an innovative Industrial Printing Apparatus, introducing a mobile digital embellishment platform designed to bring scalable, production-ready embellishment to both label and flexible packaging manufacturing.

The patented platform addresses long-standing challenges in flexible packaging, including food safety compliance, substrate variability, production inefficiencies, and material waste.

Unlike traditional analog or fixed digital systems, the platform delivers a fully integrated, modular approach combining surface preparation, coating, and digital embellishment within a single mobile system.

At its core, the system integrates:
        – Water-based or UV low migration coating and surface preparation
        – Corona treatment and adhesion optimization
        – Digital UV embellishment and cold foil capabilities
        – Inline or standalone roll-to-roll production flexibility

This unified architecture eliminates the need for multiple machines while improving efficiency and simplifying operations. It also directly addresses common sources of material loss in web processing—such as embossing distortion, offsetting, and telescoping rolls—helping converters reduce scrap and improve yield.

A key innovation is its ability to maintain food-safe compliance by ensuring embellishment remains on the exterior surface of the package structure, preventing contamination risks during converting.

The platform’s mobile design enables converters to deploy the system across multiple workflows, maximizing utilization and reducing the need for dedicated equipment.

Because embellishment is typically applied selectively across production, this mobility allows converters to apply high-value decoration where needed without tying up capital in underutilized assets, while also enabling new revenue opportunities.

A mobile digital embellishment platform that reduces waste, maximizes equipment utilization, and unlocks new revenue opportunities across the production floor.

Tom Gray is currently engaging with OEM partners, converters, and investors to explore commercialization, licensing, and strategic partnerships.
