Tech Watch: Absolute Printing Equipment Service, Inc.’s KAMA ProCut 76

Edited by Cori Watkins, editor, PostPress

Absolute Printing Equipment Service, Inc., located in Indianapolis, Indiana, offers the KAMA ProCut 76 (ProCut) as a high-performance solution for diecutting and foil stamping applications. Designed for B2 sheet formats, this versatile finishing machine delivers accuracy, speed and efficiency – making it ideal for print finishers, commercial printers and packaging providers looking to enhance productivity and expand their capabilities.

        Features and Functions

The KAMA ProCut 76 includes several engineering features that improve registration accuracy, material handling and overall efficiency.

One of the key components of the system is its dual-camera optical registration system. This technology enables precise alignment, even when working with skewed or digitally printed sheets, by automatically adjusting for any deviations in sheet positioning.

The machine is powered by a servo-driven main motor, which not only increases the machine’s overall tonnage but also enhances operational reliability. This motor allows for dwell during foil stamping, a feature that improves the quality and consistency of stamped impressions, particularly on complex or detailed designs.

Another notable element is the Bigbite gripper system. Unlike traditional grippers, the Bigbite design opens from both the top and bottom, which allows operators to run a wider variety of materials, including thicker or wavy substrates, with greater stability and fewer feeding issues.

To support higher-speed production workflows, the ProCut also includes an integrated tag stacker. This unit specifically is designed for jobs such as tags and business cards, as it can automatically stack pieces in pre-set counts. This not only improves organization but also allows the machine to run at increased speeds without sacrificing downstream handling efficiency.

While the ProCut offers many advantages, one of its most noticeable strengths is its precision engineering, which results in shorter makeready times while also improving long-term reliability. The Bigbite gripper enhances flexibility by allowing operators to handle more challenging or thicker materials with ease. Additionally, the dual-camera optical registration system is essential for digital print jobs, as it aligns each sheet to the printed image rather than relying on sheet position.

        Customer Feedback

Customers are pleased with the KAMA ProCut 76 and the benefits the machine provides. The companies using the machine have noted that the equipment offers faster set-up times, improved quality, versatility and consistent, accurate results. The ProCut is particularly helpful for repeat jobs.
