FSEA Joins Printing United Alliance on Fly-In

FSEA Executive Director Jeff Peterson was invited to join the 2026 Printing Industry Legislative Fly-In, organized by PRINTING United Alliance. Members of the printing community and media attended the two-day event, where participants met with representatives from more than 60 congressional offices to discuss key issues affecting the industry. “Although FSEA is not a lobbying-based association, this eye-opening experience enlightened me on how legislative efforts are affecting our members and the industry at large,” stated Peterson. To learn more on the Fly-In, read the Viewpoint on page 4 of this issue.

        • The ins and outs of the new parcel option
        • How to access discounts
        • Types of shipments members can save on
        • Strategies for choosing the right shipping service for optimizing costs

FSEA Presents First-Ever Committed Service Award

At the recent FSEA Print Embellishment Conference and as part of its Gold Leaf Awards Reception, FSEA presented Tommy McEwen with its inaugural FSEA Committed Service Award, which recognizes members who have dedicated service, leadership and lasting contributions to FSEA and the print finishing and embellishment industry.

In 1986, with encouragement from several colleagues, Tommy McEwen founded the trade finishing company McGraphics, Inc. Drawing on 18 years of experience in the bookbinding and finishing trade, McEwen brought his expertise to the Nashville printing community. With limited equipment but a strong work ethic and unwavering dedication, McGraphics steadily grew. Continuous investment in new equipment and his employees allowed the company to deliver exceptional quality and reliable turnaround times for its customers. Today, more than 40 years later, McGraphics continues to offer quality print finishing services under the leadership of McEwen’s son, Thomas, and CFO Brian Clements.

McGraphics became one of the first members of FSEA in the early 1990s. McEwen understood the importance of building an association that could promote the value of print finishing and foil stamping while providing meaningful educational opportunities. His commitment to FSEA led to his appointment to the Board of Directors in the late 1990s, where he also served on the Executive Committee before becoming chairman in 2002.

McEwen played a pivotal role in shaping key initiatives within FSEA. He was instrumental in establishing the Lifetime Achievement Award for the foil stamping industry –
helping define the criteria and selection process. Over the past 20 years, 11 individuals have been honored whose contributions date back to the early days of metallic foil innovation. McEwen also helped guide the development of an educational presentation – complete with script and visuals – designed to help FSEA members effectively communicate the benefits of hot stamping foils and embossing to printers and graphic design professionals.

Through his leadership, vision and dedication, Tommy McEwen helped guide FSEA during its formative years, leaving a lasting impact that continues to shape the association and the industry today.
