Standard Finishing Systems, Andover, Massachusetts, a supplier of postpress and paper handling solutions, recently announced an addition to the company’s line of perfect binding solutions: the Standard Horizon BQ-500 Perfect Binder. The system is designed for increased book-of-one productivity, increased automation and increased quality control over a wider range of substrates.

The system features a 12.1” touchscreen for quick setup, an ergonomic design for efficient and operator-friendly production, an enhanced delivery system for thin books and more. In a variable range of +/- 5 mm, the BQ-500 can reach production speeds of up to 800 books per hour, almost double the productivity of other binders in this range. The new perfect binder features interchangeable EVA and PUR glue tanks with a new and improved tank removal process for cleaner and easier tank changeover. The BQ-500 is the first perfect binder to come equipped with iCE LINK, a new cloud-based monitoring tool from Horizon that also can handle KPI analysis, PM schedule/alerts, JDF/JMF workflow, scheduling, job creation, editing and more.

The BQ-500 can be run inline with the HT-300 Three-Side Trimmer, also released in 2020, for seamless book production.
