Skandacor Unveils World’s First Ultra-Affordable Inkjet Embellishment Press, the FINISHpro 3D 1623

Press release submitted on behalf of Skandacor

Skandacor, a leader in specialty finishing solutions, has announced the launch of the FINISHpro 3D 1623, the world’s first ultra-affordable digital embellishment press. Priced at under $55,000, the new inkjet-based system is a breakthrough in both technology and accessibility, capable of producing flat spot coatings and dimensional (raised) textures on sheets up to 16 × 23 inches. The FINISHpro 3D 1623 uses a proprietary XYZ-axis process to precisely apply multiple layers of varnish, enabling tactile 3D effects at a fraction of the hardware cost of traditional embellishment presses.

Key features of the FINISHpro 3D 1623 include:

        • Max Sheet Format: Supports up to 16″ × 23″ sheets, accommodating a wide range of print projects.
        • Versatile Embellishment Modes: Delivers flat spot UV gloss, raised 3D varnish textures, and can create raised digital foil accents when paired with Skandacor specialty finishers.
        • Proprietary XYZ Axis Technology: Precision inkjet deposition in X, Y, and Z axes for controlled layer thickness, allowing intricate multi-layer effects and fine detail.
        • Ultra-Affordable Price Point: Sub-$55,000 USD, dramatically lower than comparable embellishment presses, expanding access to high-end finishing for small and mid-sized print providers.

This under-$55K price tag represents a seismic shift in the market. Most digital enhancement presses today carry six-figure price points, typically ranging from around $150,000 to hundreds of thousands. By contrast, Skandacor’s FINISHpro 3D 1623 dramatically lowers the cost barrier to entry for specialty finishing. Print service providers who once found 3D UV and foil effects cost-prohibitive can now offer premium embellished prints, from business cards and brochures to packaging and book covers, without the hefty investment previously required.

As part of its debut, the FINISHpro 3D 1623 was shown at PRINTING United Expo 2025 in October in Orlando. Visitors to Skandacor’s booth witnessed the new press in action, producing real-time demonstrations of textured spot gloss and raised varnish design on various printed materials. The FINISHpro 3D 1623 showcases Skandacor’s commitment to bringing cutting-edge yet affordable finishing solutions directly to the market.

“For too long, the creative impact of digital embellishment has been limited to those with big budgets,” said Brad Drever, CEO of Skandacor. “The FINISHpro 3D 1623 breaks that barrier. By delivering exceptional 3D varnish capabilities at under $55k, we’re democratizing embellishment, putting high-end finishing effects within reach of every print shop, not just the largest players. Now a small business can impress customers with the kind of dazzling textures and metallic accents that were once only available to large operations.”
