Press release submitted on behalf of Duplo

Slate Group, a commercial print provider in Lubbock, Texas, has expanded its enhancement capabilities with the installation of the DuSense DDC-8000 B2 Raised Spot UV Coater. This latest addition enables the company to produce both gloss and foil embellishments on thicker and larger formats.

This marks Slate Group’s third Duplo digital enhancement device, joining their two DuSense DDC-810 Raised Spot UV Coaters that “have been a workhorse” for the company. With the DDC-8000, Slate Group can now take on projects with more intricate designs and higher production demands. The team is already using it to create high-end marketing collateral, book covers, direct mail campaigns, and event materials on demand.

“Our clients were increasingly asking for foil finishes that could be applied with precision, speed, and without the limitations of traditional hot foil stamping. The cold foil unit gives us the ability to create multi-layered effects in a single pass,” said Trey Laverty, director of sales development at Slate Group. “It also shortens turn times and eliminates the need to purchase dies, making foiling more budget-friendly for our customers. The result has been both a wider customer base and an increase in the average value of each project.”

The DDC-8000 applies gloss textures and in-line cold foil effects such as holographic, metallic, and matte – without screens, dies, or lamination required. Featuring digital inkjet technology and a PC-based operation, the equipment handles sheets up to 23″ x 42″ and stocks up to 600 gsm. It allows printers to maximize layouts and increase production efficiency.

“Slate Group was an early adopter and strong advocate of our print embellishment technology,” said Rick Salinas, president of Duplo USA. “Their success with the DDC-810s made them a great fit for the DDC-8000, and we’re excited to see what they’ll do to deliver even more value to their client base.”
