        Duplo Launches Creasing Solution

        PostPress

Duplo USA Corporation, Santa Ana, California, launched the new DC-446 Creaser, a fully automated solution that creases up to 60 sheets per minute and prevents toner cracking and unattractive fold lines on digitally printed documents.

Multiple improvements were made on the DC-446 while maintaining the basic design and usability of its DC-445 predecessor. It features approximately a 20 percent increase in speed and now handles a maximum paper width of 330.5mm, a bit over 13″, to accommodate the common 13×19” sheet size. The maximum creasing capability has also been increased from 15 to 20 creases in a single pass, making it possible to run a wider variety of jobs.

The DC-446 has changed from a 4-belt to an 8-belt air suction feed system with changeable air blower area for consistent feeding of difficult stocks and weights. A number of options are also available on the DC-446 to suit the demands of digital printers.

Marrs Achieves Eagle Cold Foil Certification

Marrs Achieves Eagle Cold Foil Certification

        PostPress

Eagle Systems, Inc., City of Industry, California, announced that Marrs Printing and Packaging, Inc., a family owned and operated service provider, has successfully completed its Eagle Cold Foil Certification Course (ECFC).

The ECFC is a comprehensive 8-hour program, geared towards improving production understanding and techniques of press operators; incorporating the executive management level; and ensuring that each Eagle Cold Foil user garners both higher quality and greater ROI. The course is conducted at the user’s production facility to ensure all real-world factors and influences are incorporated.

Eagle has designed a unique test form, designed for failure, to run off each applicant’s system. The press is then finite-tweaked to maximize performance out of each operation’s adhesives, foils and blankets. One of the end results is the elimination of former process obstacles, such as pin-holing and mud cracking.

Two Sides Reveals Findings of Consumer Survey

Two Sides Reveals Findings of Consumer Survey

        PostPress

A new survey commissioned by Two Sides, Chicago, Illinois, and conducted by Toluna Inc. reveals how US consumers view corporate initiatives forcing people into digital-only communication by eliminating paper-based options.

The survey also provides insight into consumer opinions on the environmental impacts of digital versus paper-based communications. Results indicate that many consumers want to retain the choice of receiving paper bills and statements at no additional cost. Respondents reported wanting the option to continue receiving printed information to assist in keeping a permanent record, for ease of reading on paper compared to a screen and because internet access can be unreliable.

The survey indicated that more education is needed to raise awareness about the industry’s positive environmental activities, in particular its commitment to sustainable forest management and recycling. The majority of respondents did not know that paper is one of the most recycled products in the US and forests are growing dramatically in volume.
