        A new finishing solution from C.P. Bourg, in collaboration with HP, offers fully integrated digital finishing capabilities to users of HP Indigo 7000-Series digital presses. The Bookletmaker ExPress is aimed at the expansive high-quality, full-color booklet-making segment of the stitch-fold-trim finishing market in digital on demand and web-to-print production environments.

        It is able to operate 24/7 at the full-rated speed of the HP Indigo 7000, to which it is connected. Because the bookletmaker is fully integrated, automated and synchronized with the press, it can produce even ultra-short-run jobs quickly and with superb quality, without operator intervention.

        The machine will be sold and serviced by xpedx via a reference sales model with the HP Indigo sales force. This model will enable xpedx and selected Bourg dealers to sell and service the new solution.

        Imaging Solutions, a Swiss company specializing in systems for the production of LayFlat photobooks and other premium print-on-demand products, has expanded its North American service network with the addition of Print Finishing Partners, Lakewood Ranch, FL.

        The cooperation reinforces the existing organization and ensures a high service performance for a growing customer base. PFP is responsible for technical customer service, focusing on fastBlock and fastBook LayFlat bookbinding equipment.         Graphic Arts Show Company (GASC) defines “actual verified attendees” as registered on-site show goers – counted only ONCE – regardless of their number of days at the show, or times they enter the exhibit hall. This five-year events summary provides verified attendance data for PRINT 13.

        PRINT 13, together with co-located CPP EXPO, on Sept. 8-12 in Chicago’s McCormick Place welcomed a double-digit verified attendance increase over the 2012 event.

        The numbers, from Graphic Arts Show Company, confirm a total 24,695 participants, which included exhibitors and attendees. Among them, 16,728 actual verified attendee/buyers – up 22 percent from 2012 – came prepared to examine, compare and purchase the latest graphic communications technologies. Additionally, there was an uptick in the participation of high-level decision-makers from among 9,489 unique buyer companies – up 15 percent – compared to the 2012 event.

        PRINT 13 featured a comprehensive exhibition of the very latest profit-enhancing technologies and applications for a diverse spectrum of industry attendees. This year’s show was enhanced by a record 67 co-located conferences, meetings, user groups and activities that afforded attendees a host of new and expanded networking and education opportunities.

        Eagle Earns Cold Foil Process and Optimization Patent

        The US Patent and Trademark Office has issued Eagle Systems, Inc., an Ocean, New Jersey-based developer and manufacturer of foil enhancement equipment, a US Patent (#9,358,776) for a “Method for Using a Foil on a Printing Press and Optimizing the Maximum Usage of the Foil.” The publication date was June 7, 2016.

        “The patent protects our unique, fully-automatic cold foil module and process on commercial printing presses and the company’s foil-optimization methods of using foil stocks more efficiently,” said Mike King, president and CEO. “We are extremely excited, especially when you take into account the extent of the patent pending process. Our dedication to the industry and especially the sciences of cold-foil becomes validated with this announcement.”

        The patent process went on for several years due to the progression and detailed intricacies of the technology. This patent protects the company’s many years of resource investment into this defined yet expanding market. For King, research and development began as far back as 42 years ago.
